Position Overview

Under the direction and support of the Lead of Americas delivery manage the ongoing development of AURA rules-based initiatives with a focus on :

  • Managing a team of digital underwriters and
  • Maintaining and enhancing RGA’s Global Underwriting Master Aura rulesets
  • Ensuring these rules adhere to RGA’s Underwriting philosophy and generate decisions reflective of this philosophy
  • Supporting client implementations of AURA by providing digital underwriting subject matter
  • Assist in developing Strategic plans as they relate to the Digital Underwriting roadmap

The hiring preference is in the Toronto location, but remote candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital underwriting resources in building AURA rules that reflect RGA’s underwriting philosophy
  • Develop and continually update and refine RGA’s Global Master rule sets
  • Provide input into the digital underwriting strategy and roadmap, making recommendations to the Lead of Americas Delivery
  • Performs supervisory duties including, but not limited to training, evaluating, coaching direct reports.
  • Cultivate good working relationships with the Chief Underwriters, product, and technology teams across RGA
  • Manage projects and ensure assigned tasks and timelines are
  • Utilize your strong technical risk assessment skills and experience in underwriting Life, Critical Illness, Income Protection and Total Permanent Disability products in developing e- Underwriting rules
  • Coach, develop and mentor RGA’s underwriting clients and colleagues in the rules development
  • Identify and escalate decisions and unresolved issues to the Lead of Americas Delivery
  • Demonstrate effective time management, conflict resolution and presentation of alternative
  • Participate in e-Underwriting rules reviews to : Ensure adherence to the appropriate underwriting guidelines Analyze and make recommendations to increase straight through processing rates Provide best practice recommendations in rules construction
  • Provide feedback to the GUM team on all GUM manual related issues identified during the rules development process.
  • Participates, as a subject matter expert, leader or team member, in special projects, committees, meetings and client presentations, as required.
  • Stays abreast of electronic underwriting and reporting
  • Requirements

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

    Required :

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in insurance / reinsurance market
  • Strong foundation and understanding in RGA’s underwriting philosophy.
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
  • FALU / DLDU or other industry qualification an asset.
  • Previous experience in writing automated underwriting rules for traditional and simplified issue business preferred.
  • Previous Underwriting experience
  • Preferred :

  • 10+ years of underwriting experience with mortality and morbidity products
  • Experience developing and implementing underwriting rules
  • BS / BA Science, Business, FALU or DLDU
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
