Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for a half-time Educational Assistant in ECS.

Qualifications :

Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma

Requirements :

Support students growth in the areas of cognition communication physical and social development

Support and / or implement teacher directed programming

Work collaborative under guidance of teacher CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team

Implement specialist (OT PT SLP etc) strategies to achieve required goals

Able to work with student to implement and support literacy / numeracy

Toileting routines if required

Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and / or school specific behaviour strategies

Work and play at students physical level of their activities

Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe

Physical ability to lift and move students

Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision

Employee is expected to work with behaviours related / associated with conduct obsessive / compulsive trauma and stress related severe chronic depressive feeding and / or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD emotional / behavioural learning and speech & language-related disabilities etc may be encountered.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail Internet and MS Office.
