Wood is recruiting a DCS Instrumentation and Controls Technician (Casual /Temporary) to join its Operations team focusing on the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This opportunity is offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, working on an as needed, call-out basis.
The Role
Task Summary
Install, upgrade, maintain, inspect, test, adjust, and repair the measuring and control devices (electric, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic) used in Process (DCS), Fire and Gas, Emergency Control Systems and associated package controls (PLC & Turbine Control Systems). Familiar with Bailey Infi-90, ABB 800xA PPA and Symphony+ Engineering, Woodward Micro-Net, Triconex TMR, Allen Bradley PLC5/Controllogix, Modicon/Schnieder PLC's, Bently Nevada 3500/System One, and SAP. Read, understand and follow drawings, manuals, procedures and specifications. Proficiency with electronic / pneumatic / hydraulic controls and support equipment requirements associated to an offshore production facility . wellhead control, liquid processing, hydraulic power units, subsea controls, gas/liquid measurement and analytical devices. Comfortable troubleshooting breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and executing repairs safely in a time sensitive operations environment. Maintaining configuration files and integrity critical documentation following clients ‘Management of Change’ process. Everyday workgroup interfacing with maintenance, operations, construction and onshore engineering teams for equipment reliability, installation and commissioning related issues. Working in confined spaces and/or at heights, noisy conditions. Work may be indoors or outdoors, at extreme temperatures.

Successful completion of 4 Period Apprenticeship in the trade, followed by Journeyperson Certification OR 3-year diploma for Instrumentation and controls technician with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience. Experience in instrument controls, PLCs, industrial construction, maintenance, fabrication, and/or repair in an offshore production environment.
