Registered Practical Nurse

The successful candidate will provide Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing care to adult inpatient Psychiatry patients. The RPN role includes medication administration delivering patient care to individuals who are depressed suicidal psychotic and / or have severe and persistent Psychiatric Illness.

Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations mental status and physical assessments monitoring patients response to pharmaceutical care interventions documentation and ongoing communication with other team members and charge nurses

Qualifications :

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
• CPI certification required
• Psychiatric nursing certification in progress required
• 1 year minimum acute adult mental health experience required
• Must possess a strong understanding of psychopharmacology
• Must possess a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing addiction issues and risk assessments
• Must possess good assessment and crisis intervention communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem solve.
• Good team player
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record
• Must be physically able to do the job which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort

The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.

Additional Information :

Hours :  Monday to Sunday; various rotating 12 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary :   $35.29 to $38.16 per hour
