ELECTRICIAN

(BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEMS / ELECTRICIAN)

The Maintenance Services Department of the Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Electrician (BAS / Electrician). Reporting to the assigned Maintenance Supervisor - Electrical Systems, the Electrician (BAS / Electrician) will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide emergency, preventative and planned maintenance services to electrical systems and components throughout Simcoe County as required to meet operational needs. This position is required to work on-call in a rotational sequence on a schedule determined by the supervisor, utilizing the Building Automation System to troubleshoot and address alarms.

Salary Range : $33.29 - $36.22 per hour

Qualifications and Skills Required

• A current Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician 309A - Construction and Maintenance.
• Ability to read, write and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with troubleshooting, service and repair of commercial and institutional building electrical systems and components.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete forms and requisitions.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Physical ability to perform tasks working from ladders.
• Excellent organizational, scheduling and time management skills.
• Computer literacy sufficient to operate Facility Services Computerized Maintenance Work Order System.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have a working knowledge of Building Automated Systems (BAS).
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member in a multi-disciplined team and with staff, students and the general public.
• Valid Ontario Driver's License is a requirement and proof thereof will be requested on hiring. A current Drivers abstract will also be required and reviewed on hiring.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

The duties, responsibilities and requirements for this position are not limited to the above but may also include all of those in the Job Description for Electrician. This position will be required to be on-call and / or work after hours where required on a rotational basis to assist with operational needs. Compensation will be provided for on-call work in accordance with the CUPE collective agreement. SCDSB training to be completed as required.
