Job Summary
IRON 5 Equipment & Repair Ltd. is looking for a versatile and skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our growing team. While our daily operations are 80% focused on commercial truck and trailer repair, we are a true multi-disciplinary shop. You will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy iron, including forklifts, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks, with occasional automotive work as required.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Level: Must be a 3rd Year Apprentice, 4th Year, or Journeyman (HET Truck Transport or Heavy Equipment).
- Experience: Proven experience working on commercial road-tractors and trailers.
- Versatility: Comfortable switching between truck engines and heavy off-road equipment (Dozers, Loaders, Rock Trucks, and Forklifts).
- Independence: Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Driver's License: Valid Class 5 (Class 1 or 3 is a major asset for road-testing trucks).
- Tools: Must have a comprehensive set of personal hand tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Fleet: Diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including engine, drivetrain, and air brake systems.
- Heavy Equipment: Service, troubleshoot, and repair earthmoving and material handling equipment.
- Diagnostics: Use advanced tooling to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues across various makes and models.
- Compliance: Perform safety inspections and ensure all repairs meet industry and CVIP standards.
- Shop Operations: Maintain accurate service records and contribute to a safe, efficient shop environment.
