Software Developer in Test - Media & Entertainment

Position Overview

Autodesk's Entertainment & Media team is looking for aSoftware Quality Assurance Developerto guide our QA team, drive team-level outcomes and initiatives, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture. Reporting to our Manager of Software Quality Assurance, you will mentor and develop team members, ensuring their growth and alignment with the team's objectives. You possess extensive experience in front-end testing and a deep understanding of web technologies, as well as a good understanding of media streaming processes, postproduction workflows, media formats, and the technical side of film production. This role involves guiding the design, development, and execution ofboth automated and manual teststo ensure the highest quality of ourweb applications, with an equal focus on both testing types. Proficiency in JavaScript and experience using Cypress are essential.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve and optimize testing processes and frameworks

• Ensure proper integration of tests into our CI/CD pipeline

• Utilize Applitools Eyes for visual testing to ensure the visual correctness of web applications

• Prioritize testing tasks to ensure timely delivery and adherence to high-quality standards

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve overall code quality

• Mentor and develop junior QA specialists

• Collaborate regularly with developers, product managers, and QA teams to identify test requirements and develop comprehensive test plans

• Communicate test results, findings, and insights clearly to all key team members & stakeholders

• Maintain and enhance test scripts using Cypress for front-end testing

• Write and maintain JavaScript-based test scripts and frameworks

• Lead the design, development, and execution of both automated and manual tests to ensure the quality of our web applications

• Perform comprehensive front-end and back-end manual testing as needed

• Actively create opportunities to share knowledge

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of related work experience in an agile/scrum environment

• Excellent understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript ES6+, etc.) and related testing methodologies

• Ability to write maintainable, resilient automation using stable selectors, fallback hooks, and smart retries

• Proficiency in JavaScript, with experience using Cypress. Strong understanding of E2E testing workflows, test reliability, and handling flaky tests

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, Jenkins, CloudBees, GitLab CI)

• Understanding of streaming media, media formats, and overall movie production technology

• Web, API, Visual & Platform Testing

• Strong working knowledge of modern web development concepts (DOM, asynchronous operations, state management)

• Experience testing applications built with Angular or similar frameworks (React, Vue)

• Experience with API testing (e.g., Postman or similar tools)

• Experience with visual testing tools (e.g., Applitools Eyes, Percy, Chromatic) to validate UI consistency

• Experience testing across multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, Web, and macOS

• Experience using Git (branching, pull requests, merges)

The Ideal Candidate

• Understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and defect lifecycle

• Ability to create and maintain clear test documentation

• Experience working with Jira or similar issue tracking systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ownership mindset with the ability to identify gaps and improve test coverage effeciently working with developers and QA team members

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
