Job description

Business Address: 30 – 747 Silver Seven Road, Kanata Ontario, K2V 0H2 Work Location: Same as above Type of Employment: Full-time - Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Collect samples and perform other laboratory tests Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery Produce diagnostic radiographs Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian Counsel clients on animal health care May perform a variety of office management and clerical duties Requirements Education: Completion of a two- or three-year animal health/veterinary technology college program is required. Credential: Being eligible for a Certification and/or license from a regulatory authority (Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians) is a strong asset. Experience: A minimum of three years of experience working with a veterinary cardiologist. The ability to operate an echocardiogram and other cardiology equipment is required. Area of specialization: Cardiology Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Standing, Handling material manually, Bending or twisting the body, Making repetitive motions, Walking and running Work Environment: Indoors, environmentally controlled, Radiation, Dangerous chemical substances, Biological agents, Skin injury, Standard safety, equipment, specialized safety equipment, Hazardous conditions, Sound and noise Work setting: Animal hospital. Specialization in clinical medicine: Cardiology. Personal Suitability: Accurate, Client focus, Efficient interpersonal, Excellent oral communication, Excellent written communication, Flexibility, Initiative, Organized, Team player Weight handling: 40 lbs. Computer skills: Basic computer skills are required. MS Office, Excel and outlook are preferred. Language: English is required Salary: $36.00 hourly, 30 - 40 hours per week.
