Sr. Java Dev / Big Data Developer

Position Description :

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our client's downtown Toronto office / Yonge Street) at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.

This is a newly created position working on our regulatory project - RM (Risk Modernization), and FRTB (Fundamental Review of the Trading Book) under GFT Programs. The primary focus of this role is to provide re-engineering expertise, covering design, implementation and support of the RM and FRTB applications, namely Aggregation of Market Risk and Market Data Shocks and Scenarios generation, and Risk Application Service Layer. Additional focus will be to work with other internal application development teams.

Your future duties and responsibilities :

A technical expert in developing, coding, testing and debugging new software or making significant improvements to existing software. Experience and expertise must be significant to support the software design phases. Could be responsible for overall design, development and team coordination on the business system / application. Significant independent judgment is to be used and will be expected to act as a technical leader on projects.Knowledge & Experience

Required qualifications to be successful in this role :

Must Have :

• 5+ years application development experience in Java, Spark, Hadoop, Spark and Scala.
• 10+ years application development experience in Java and Spring Framework
• 5+ years in developing and optimizing Big Data applications using Java / Scala and Spark on Cloudera / HDP.
• Experience in developing / designing micro-service architecture.
• Experience in developing applications in Spring & Spring Boot
• Working knowledge of Jenkins CI, Git, CI / CD pipelines
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders – business and technical
