What will you be doing in the Door Shop Associate position?
An Excellent Door Shop enables Metrie to reduce errors, labor, and cycle time while increasing accuracy and service. The Door Shop position is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and operations processes including safety at the Distribution Center. This position will help reduce errors, labour and cycle time while increasing accuracy and service (IFOTIS).
The Door Shop position is an hourly position that reports to the Shift Supervisor. They will also work cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, and Supply Chain etc. to resolve issues and drive Continuous Improvement.
Location : Halton Hills, ON
Shift timing : Day Shift - 5 : 30 am - 1 : 30 pm
Specific Duties
- Ensure product is accurately picked (both item, quantity and direction) based on customers production order
- Ensure machine specs are programed and accurate (direction, swing, hinge locations etc.)
- Review and confirm work orders in SAP to ensure accuracy before beginning production.
- Machine doors, jambs, and related components according to production order specifications and quality standards.
- Assemble doors to align with the required specifications (this will be done either by hand or with assembler equipment)
- Ensure doors meet quality expectations (no gaps, cracks and meets the quality standards of a product you would purchase in store)
- Apply all required marketing materials and packaging protection
- Package completed doors using the appropriate materials and protection to ensure safe and damage‑free shipping.
- Record all produced items on picklists and maintain accurate documentation throughout the process.
- Apply required quality inspection labels to all finished products prior to shipment.
- As required, ensure to follow scrapping / material adjustment SOP to maintain inventory integrity
- Ensure product, components and consumables are replenished properly and safely when necessary
- Ensure customer pick-ups are dealt with in a timely manner and that customers are treated with respect and feel comfortable when in our facility
- Work with care and attention to detail, while maintaining efficiency and continuously looking for opportunities to improve processes.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies to your Supervisor so they can collaborate with Procurement to investigate and resolve variances.
- Ensure proper receiving processes are being followed to maintain the integrity of the product and the accuracy of the count
- Ensure QC process has been completed and notify supervision if there are any issues
- Handle any issues from external or internal vendors are properly investigated and resolved with Purchasing / Procurement to ensure the system inventory count is accurate
- Ensure proper Cycle Count and Physical Inventory processes are followed to maintain the integrity of the inventory
- Work with your supervisor and sales team to process all Returns (e.g. garbage, put into stock etc.)
- Ensure returns procedures are followed, paperwork is completed and stored correctly, and that your assigned aisle is kept clean and organized for safety and accuracy.
- Aid in all other areas of customer service as directed by supervision (Managers, Supervisors, and Production Planners) so long as you have been trained to work in a safe and knowledgeable manner “We are one team”
