POSITION : INTERMEDIATE TO SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST
LOCATION : Grande Prairie, AB Office; Full Time Position
We are an expanding progressive surface land and environmental consulting firm with an interest in oil and gas, forestry, mining, energy, and agricultural industries, as well as municipal authorities throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Canadas north. We employ a team of over 85 staff members located in our Fairview, Grande Prairie, Fort St. John, and Terrace offices, and we offer interdisciplinary expertise to develop environmental solutions for our clients throughout western Canada. For 40 years, we have directly assisted clients in regulatory application and have provided consulting expertise on environmental legislation, regulations and guideline compliance related to project planning, development, and reclamation. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a recognized Post Secondary institution or college in the field of Environmental Sciences
- 5+ years of relevant environmental and environmental consulting experience
- Accredited through the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists
- Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist (QAES) a plus
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Current Safety Tickets
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency

Develop, review, implement environmental management plans and effective environmental mitigation measuresConduct day-to-day environmental inspections of construction sitesReview and direct contractors in the installation of stream crossing structures, water quality and fish salvage, soil stripping, and sediment and erosion control activitiesRespond to environmental incidentsWork with management and construction teams to confirm compliance with environmental best practices, commitments, permits, laws and regulations and develop recommendations to resolve non-conformancesInterface with clients and staff to present environmental services related to industry and regulatory requirementsBuild and maintain positive client relationships focused on providing top-quality service in regulatory expertisePrepare proposals including scopes of work and cost estimates for environmental projectsProvide business development and networking opportunities within the oil and gas, mining and energy industriesDesign and implementation of field programsPrepare technical reports such as wildlife, vegetation, and wetland assessments, pre- and post-construction site assessments, construction monitoring / inspection reports, and watercourse / water body classification and data acquisitionPrepare and implement wildlife management plans, Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and erosion and sediment control plansConsult with environmental regulatory bodiesDocumentation and record keeping in accordance with our Quality Management PlanReview of field and technical reports for content, accuracy and formattingCOMPENSATION
