Position Overview
Performs ophthalmic diagnostic procedures within the scope of Ophthalmic Assistant Certification. Performs ophthalmic photographic services and the necessary documentation for the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.
Experience
- One (1) to two (2) years of work experience under ophthalmological supervision required.
- Experience as an ophthalmic photographer or related experience in this area preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12.
- Introductory photography course required or an equivalent combination of photography education, training and experience.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (J.C.A.H.P.O.) Certification required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in computer/word processing required.
- Works within the Centre’s core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
- Must be mature and capable of working under minimal supervision.
- Must show initiative, good judgement, the ability to train, provide instruction, organize his/her work.
- Must be a team member working cooperatively, courteously and tactfully with patients, hospital personnel and the community.
- Ability to speak and understand French is preferred.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic pharmacology required.
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.
