Job description

Our client has many decades of experience helping companies grow and succeed in Canada through providing national fleet solutions, general freight services, managed transportation, fulfillment & distributiony. With a national network of terminals, cross-docks, and distribution centers, they are one of Canada’s largest and most trusted supply chain service providers.

To support their exemplary growth they are seeking a General Manager / Terminal Manager on-site in Oshawa, ON to lead day-to-day activities including Customer Service, Terminal Operations, Planning, and Dispatch. This position involves customer-facing responsibilities, including rate negotiations and contract renewals, and requires collaboration with various departments to ensure world-class service delivery. The Terminal Manager will also focus on building customer relations, revenue streams, and managing day-to-day operations.

Top Responsibilities :

  • Implement operational policies, objectives, and initiatives
  • Execute operating plans to achieve financial and operational goals
  • Evaluate and optimize operational systems and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations
  • Monitor financial and operational metrics
  • Team leadership including operations managers and customer service staff
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Participate in the sales cycle and support dedicated accounts
  • Manage the terminal's P&L and overall performance

Key Qualifications and Required Skills :

  • 5+ years of relevant transportation experience, reefer experience required
  • Post Secondary Education
  • Excellent leadership and analytical skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment and juggle multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally
  • MS Office proficiency and Truckmate (or similar)
