RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
Department / Research Program: Centre for Research in Neuroscience/Brain Repair and Integrative Neuroscience Program

The duties involved in this job require viral injection of an opsin for the purposes of optogenetic activation of cells in the brain. Activated cells will be patch-clamp recorded and imaged using 2-photon laser-scanning microscopy. The incumbent is expected to have been trained in neuroscience pharmacology biochemistry. Evidence for proficiency in these fields could include scholarships honors awards a strong grade-point average as well as strong letters of recommendation.

General Duties
AAV injection
Brain dissection and acute slice preparation
2-photon microscopy
2-photon optogenetics.

Other education considered an asset for this position: Strong writing and analytical skills

Work Experience: 0- 1 year

Required Skills

Excellent English spoken and written
Some skills in French a plus but not critical
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision.

Additional information

Status: Temporary part-time (29 hours per workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $16.14 - $26.43/h.
Work Shift: Variable Schedule: M-Th 9 am 4 pm F 9am 3 pm
Work Site: MGH 1650 Cedar Ave.
