Extrusion Apprentice

A new employee will start on the night shift , from 7 : 00 p.m. to 7 : 00 a.m. , on a continental schedule (alternating between 36 and 48 hours per week).

The starting hourly rate is $29.41 , plus a night shift premium of $1.35 . Wage increases are offered after 6 months.

After 3 months of continuous service, employees become unionized and gain access to the following benefits :

Group dental and medical insurance : 90% paid by the employer.

Life insurance; accidental death and dismemberment; short- and long-term disability; and dependent coverage : 100% paid by the employee.

Work uniforms and safety equipment (glasses and shoes) : paid by the employer.

Group RRSP : After one year of continuous service, the employer contributes up to 4% of the employee’s total salary, based on the employee’s contribution.

Job Description : Extrusion Apprentice

The Extrusion Apprentice will perform the following tasks while adhering to safety standards and Hood Packaging’s quality and food safety policies :

Transport resin from the warehouse to the extrusion equipment.

Fill the hopper with the appropriate resin based on the type of plastic roll to be produced.

Start, adjust, and optimize the extrusion lines according to production specifications.

Assist in quality control using measurement tools and verification tests.

Finalize the product and prepare it for shipment to the warehouse or the printing department.

Maintain a high level of attention to detail to prevent any non-compliance affecting product quality.

Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Keep the work area clean, safe, and well-organized.

Strictly follow workplace health and safety rules.
