We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer with 7 10 years of hands-on experience in developing and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, and VSAM , with experience in batch and online / transaction processing environments. This is a 6-month contract (possible extension) based in Canada (Remote / Hybrid options available) starting 02-Feb-2025 .

About the Role

As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will design, develop, test, and maintain critical mainframe applications supporting large-scale enterprise systems. You will collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver stable, high-performing solutions and support modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, and VSAM
• Convert business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions
• Perform DB2 performance tuning , query optimization, and access path analysis
• Work on both batch processing and online transaction processing
• Partner with Business Analysts, QA, and development teams to ensure on-time delivery
• Provide production support , troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Maintain technical documentation including program logic, changes, and workflows
• Participate in code reviews , enforce coding standards, and ensure best practices
• Support mainframe modernization, migration, and integration initiatives
