EAM - Report Lead

Schedule Management : Establish and monitor project schedule ensuring adherence to key milestones.

Risk Management : Identify and monitor risks and establish mitigation strategies as appropriate.

Team leadership : Manage a diverse team of technical experts and senior leaders in the organization.

Interpersonal and communication skills as well as business acumen will be critical.

Technical Management : Oversee the work of a reporting and data management resources (design, building, testing, deployment, and change management) throughout the project life cycle.

Working closely with the project team, vendor partners and various stakeholders to quickly develop the identified reports with equivalent or enhanced functionality.

Ensure optimal performance of new reports by leveraging native Power BI and Cognos features.

Manage changes in data models, filters, parameters, and visuals.

Direct report development in Power BI and Cognos based on business needs, incorporating best practices in visualization and data storytelling.

Lead and validate data accuracy.

Direct technical design of each report, including data sources, relationships, calculations, and visualizations. Document the data sources, tables, and fields used in each report.

Manage the detailed data models and schemas where needed, explaining transformations and relationships.

Responsible for report performance in Power BI and Cognos, ensuring fast load times and query efficiency.

Establish and manage documentation control : list roles, permissions, and access levels for each report, including instructions on how to modify permissions.

Structure and lead knowledge transfer sessions with internal teams on the design, usage, and maintenance of the Power BI and Cognos reports.

Manage Deployment Documentation : Provide documentation outlining the deployment process for the new Power BI and Cognos reports in production. Include step-by-step deployment instructions for different environments (e.g., test, UAT, production).

Providing regular and ad hoc status reports (formal and informal) related to the report development work and progress with results analysis.

Proactively collaborate with the project team and communicate with stakeholders to ensure project efforts proceed efficiently.

Follow the Agile methodology for product testing; Contribute to the continuous improvement of the report development processes and practices that support defect prevention, and early detection of defects.

As product / system knowledge is developed, participate in user feedback and training sessions as required, potentially contributing to the development of knowledge transfer and training material.

Participate in all other related project work as defined by the Team Lead or manager.

What you must have :

The requirements for this job are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in business or computer sciences, engineering or a related discipline.

Eight (8) years of related experience in full cycle of technology management and / or business transformation initiatives. Including ability to effectively translate business requirements into technical / functional requirements and launching new features into production.

5+ years of recent and hands-on experience in Power BI and Cognos Reports :

Deep understanding of Power BI desktop and service, including report building, data modeling, and creating dashboards.

Expertise in Power Query for data transformation and M language for writing advanced queries.

Strong knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating complex calculations and measures in Power BI.

Familiarity with Power BI integration into other Microsoft tools like Excel, SharePoint, or Teams.

Experience with Cognos reporting tools (e.g., Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager).

Familiarity with creating and managing Cognos data models, dashboards, and reports for EAM.

SQL and Data Management :

Proficient in writing complex SQL queries for extracting and manipulating data from various databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).

Knowledge of database schemas, joins, indexes, and query optimization techniques.

ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) :

Familiarity with ETL processes and tools for data integration and transformation, especially where large datasets are involved.
