We are looking for a Senior Claims Advisor (Specialty Lines) to join our team in our Montreal office!

As a Senior Claims Advisor (Specialty Lines), you will be responsible for reviewing relevant policies, investigating losses, conducting coverage analysis, and reporting losses to the insurer. You will also be responsible for liaising between the client and the insurer to guarantee maximum satisfaction and maintain good relationships with both parties. You will be working directly with the Specialty Practices at BFL namely D&O, Cyber, and Representations and Warranties (M&A) teams.

Your day as a Senior Claims Advisor (Specialty Lines)

  • Collaborate with Specialty Practices (D&O, Cyber, M&A) to establish best practices for claims advisory work
  • Meet with Insurers on a regular basis to establish and maintain relationships with claims teams.
  • Review relevant policies upon notification of a new claim and report loss to the insurer.
  • Confirm coverages included in the insurance policy.
  • Review claims' documentation.
  • Conduct claims and coverage analysis and recommend solutions to coverage issues.
  • Negotiate payments and reimbursements with the insurers on the client's behalf.
  • Update the client on the status of the claim as needed.
  • Enter and maintain current and accurate information in the appropriate electronic file system.
  • Maintain current and accurate files and documentation for each claim
  • Prepare and update loss bordereaux.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with clients to provide updates on active claims.
  • Comply with corporate policies and procedures.

    • Our ideal candidate

  • 5+ years as Claims Advisor specifically in Specialty and Executive Lines of Insurance (e.g. D&O, Cyber, Representations & Warranties Insurance)
  • Minimum of 4 years in practice as a litigation lawyer.
  • Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Good knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Resourceful, customer-focused focused, and service-oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
