Overview :
Our client in Newmarket, ON is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) . In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs to help clients develop, regain, or maintain daily living and work skills.
You will work with clients of all ages to promote health, prevent injury, and improve quality of life.
Responsibilities :
- Assess clients’ physical, emotional, and social needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical history.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on client assessments and goals.
- Provide therapy services to help clients perform daily activities, improve motor functions, and enhance cognitive abilities.
- Educate clients and their families on strategies and techniques to manage disabilities, injuries, and chronic conditions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, and speech-language pathologists, to provide comprehensive care.
- Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Advocate for clients’ needs and provide recommendations for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with Ontario health regulations and standards.
- Stay current with research and best practices in the field of occupational therapy to ensure high-quality care.
Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) .
- Experience working with diverse populations and a wide range of conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with relevant therapy techniques, tools, and technology.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle may be required for community-based positions.
