GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
Assumes direct responsibility for coordinating and supervising assigned department(s).
This is inclusive of financial responsibility, departmental performance, performance management, and quality improvement programs.
Identifies all customer groups, assesses their needs, and coordinates department to successfully achieve service line objectives.
Assists the Senior Leadership Team in policy / procedure development and monitoring, multi-disciplinary business planning and program growth development.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Colleague must have an RN license, as defined by their primary work state (Idaho or Oregon), issued prior to hire date.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required on hire or candidate must be enrolled in a BSN program with a completion timeline of 12 months after date of hire. Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated experience and additional education is considered when choosing the leadership candidate, however enrollment and plans to complete a BSN (patient care leaders) is essential to position requirements.
5 years nursing experience in acute care required; 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
ACLS/NRP within 6 months of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Nurse Manager is accountable for 24/7 oversight of the day-to-day operations of the department through implementation of strategy, policy, direction, and action planning.
Meets Health System's Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
Successfully executes the established plans and services of the functional areas of responsibility through analysis, measurement and monitoring, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation, and utilization of available resources.
Facilitates and manages team performance to the established performance levels by the effective use of Total Quality, Human Resources, and Financial skills, techniques, and communications.
Establishes and maintains a positive and productive working relationships with all relevant customers and suppliers.
Develops assigned aspects of the organizational strategic and tactical plans in concert with established planning processes.
Serves as liaison to Senior Management and Medical Staff for the functional areas of responsibility.
Ensures compliance with all applicable SAHS policies and procedure.
Essential Functions:
Timely completion of daily operational responsibilities: The manager demonstrates the timely ability to: provide adequate staffing on a daily basis, complete assigned processes such as payroll and budget variances in a timely manner, attend meetings and follow through on assigned projects and other daily operational duties.
The leader role models a spirit commensurate with mission centered ministry values while finding ways to exceed the expectations of patients, associates, leaders and physicians: On a daily basis, the manager is known for doing the right things in the right manner which support the ministry organization in the eyes of the community and patients served.
