ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Research Administration and Services Manager and will work with the Research Communications and Events Coordinator for day-to-day work.
SUMMARY
The student assistant will assist in developing written stories about KPU Research & Innovation activities. This supports the Division's goal to increase impactful storytelling to both internal and external audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting the Research Communications and Events Coordinator in generating research stories
- Drafting written copy for social media and other communications
- Creating simple social media graphics using branded templates
- Liaising with the Communications and Marketing departments when advised
QUALFICATIONS
Must be enrolled in Journalism at KPU, ideally in their third or fourth year but this is not requiredStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to generate creative story ideasStrong organizational and time-management skills against deadlinesIntermediate computer skills, including word processing software (e.g. MS Word)Ability to follow directions with minimal supervisionAbility to demonstrate professionalism and email etiquetteBasic graphic design skills are an asset but not requiredSalary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following :
Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) - BC Minimum WageOne year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) - BC Minimum Wage plus 8%With a post-secondary diploma or degree - BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
