Role overview
Senior Strategic Procurement Lead at Vancity – drive high-impact procurement strategies across key business groups. Lead cross-functional teams through the full procurement lifecycle—from market analysis and category strategy to sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and implementation. Deliver business value, ensure compliance, and optimize enterprise-wide effectiveness.
Posting and work arrangement We are hiring for 2 permanent, full-time roles with hybrid working arrangements, primarily from the Vancity head office and Lower Mainland-based home offices. The role may require on-site presence at the Vancouver head office at least twice a week.
Responsibilities
- Program Management : Implement processes for category selection, appraisal, and management, including research methodologies and strategic recommendations.
- Advise senior management on cost / benefit analyses, feasibility studies, and service improvement options.
- Ensure compliance with strategic procurement policies, contract management, financial approvals, and third-party risk protocols.
- Maintain procurement records, prepare statistical reports, and track benefits for key stakeholders.
- Prepare and execute category, contract, and project pipeline plans.
- Sourcing & Evaluation : Collaborate with user departments to determine sourcing methodologies and develop selection criteria.
- Facilitate competitive processes and complex evaluations using decision matrices and weighted scoring.
- Execute Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) lifecycle strategies.
- Leadership & Coaching : Provide formalized direction to strategic procurement project teams and mentor team members across departments.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of corporate strategies and deliver measurable business benefits.
- Motivate and manage diverse internal and external teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Build and maintain relationships with SLT, ELT, business partners, legal, suppliers, contractors, and corporate legal.
- Communicate project objectives, requirements, and progress to sponsors, steering committees, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field; a Master’s degree (MBA, MAL) is preferredProfessional designation such as SCMP, NICSL-CSCL, MCIPS, or equivalent is required9–12 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain, with 2+ years of experience managing teamsProven experience in contract management, strategic sourcing, and vendor governanceExperience embedding ESG, sustainability, or social impact principles into procurement strategies is a strong assetAdvanced business case development, budgeting, and cost accountingStrong process design and governance expertiseKnowledge of OSFI B10, BCFSA and other regulatory frameworksExceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilitiesStrategic thinking, problem-solving, and critical analysisResults-driven with strong prioritization and project management capabilitiesYou have

Salary : The salary range for this role is $91,000 to $136,400 annually. Base pay offered may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and internal equity. Our total rewards package may include an annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
