Position Overview :
Provides special interest programs and instruction to participants.
Responsibilities :
- Prepares and implements appropriate programs for participants following required standards.
- Demonstrates and instructs assigned programs using established teaching methodology and procedures; provides feedback to participants.
Modifies programs as needed to ensure inclusion of all participants.
- Assembles supplies and equipment as required.
- Completes room sets up including lifting and moving tables, chairs and any program equipment as required.
- Integrates inclusion staff, private support workers, and volunteers into programs.
- Completes records and reports including class attendance and accident / incident reports.
- Ensures safe use, condition, and storage of equipment.
- Distributes applicable forms and program information (., course evaluation forms, general information, brochures).
- Adheres to policies and procedures established for City of Kitchener facilities.
- Reviews emergency procedures with participants; follows established procedures during emergencies.
- Responds to participants immediate concerns and / or needs and provides customer service.
- Acts as a liaison between the community centre and participants.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- Equivalent to partial secondary school education.
- Current technical and practical training in a specific special interest discipline (., computer instruction, card games, language courses, writing courses, book clubs).
- 3 months of related experience.
- Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment (applicable to instructors of children and youth programs).
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
