Senior Mortgage Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our client’s growing team. This dual-role position is ideal for a mortgage professional who is equally skilled in underwriting and relationship building. The ideal candidate is well-versed in the alternative lending, has a solid background in residential mortgage underwriting.

Roles and Responsibilities

Underwrite residential, commercial, and construction mortgage applications in alignment with internal credit policies and risk parameters.

Apply in-depth knowledge of the Alt-A / B-lender mortgage market to assess risk and price deals competitively.

Conduct thorough credit analysis and risk assessments for each file, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.

Represent the organization at industry trade shows, networking events, and broker-specific functions, including golf tournaments and special events as needed.

Support the development and execution of the branch Mortgage Business Plan in collaboration with underwriting and management teams.

Qualifications and Skills

Previous underwriting experience in residential mortgages.

Existing, active relationships within the mortgage broker community.

Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships and drive new business.

Strong communication, presentation, and credit decision-making skills.
