Job description

The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of trucks, trailers and construction equipment. This role keeps our fleet operating safely and reliably throughout the construction season. Work is primarily shop based with mobile field support as needed. Job ResponsibilitiesPerform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of truck, trailer combinations and various off road equipment including compaction equipment, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders and paving equipmentDiagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systemsComplete preventative maintenance, planned repairs and emergency breakdown repairsMaintain accurate maintenance records and required documentationOperate a service truck in the field when required, including occasional overnight travelPerform work in a safe, timely and efficient mannerWork overtime and weekends during the construction season as requiredQualificationsAlberta HET certification or minimum 3rd year apprentice or out of province HET certification with Interprovincial Red SealOwn tools requiredStrong diagnostic ability in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systemsBasic welding knowledge and skills (welding certification considered an asset)Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract (Valid Class 1 License is an asset)CVIP certification considered an assetStrong work ethic, reliability and attention to detailAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamPhysically capable of working in a demanding shop and field environmentsWhat We OfferCompetitive wages based on experienceBenefitsProfit sharingCompany Share Ownership ProgramOngoing training and developmentOpportunities for advancementSteady work during the construction seasonMany of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within.
