Job Purpose

The Paint Shop Lead Hand is responsible for painting steel according to the work order.

Responsibilities

• Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
• Uses the overhead crane to lift finished items into the paint area.
• Schedules production and ensures completion of divisions.
• Works effectively with Project Managers on specifications of material.
• Understands customer specifications and product data sheets.
• Ensures efficiency and productivity of work team.
• Verifies adequate and suitable safety equipment, including mandatory PPE, and ensures it is supplied and properly used and maintained.
• Reviews job hazard assessments with team prior to commencement of a job.
• Conducts daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
• Assesses and confirms, through documentation, each team member’s competency.
• Participates in and provides incident reports for all incidents in the investigation process.
• Reads, understands and complies with Waiward’s safety policy, safe work practices, procedures and rules.
• May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise and numerous hazardous fumes.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as : viewing paint specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
