The De Beers Group of Companies has an exciting permanent opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Mining department at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor and working a two (2) week in / two (2) week out rotation, the responsibility of the Blaster is to safely and effectively load, stem, tie-in and shoot large diameter blast-hole patterns. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe work practices and strives for zero harm.
Key responsibilities :
- Monitoring and directing all activities on blast patterns in a safe and effective manner;
- Conducting field tests to determine type and quantity of explosives required;
- Addressing open pit drill and blast objectives, assumptions, needs, and results;
- Working with various teams in the open pit;
- Mentoring Blaster helpers :
- Coordinating activities across a variety of groups (Geology, Mine Operations etc);
- Following all explosives regulations and site procedures; and
- Providing leadership for all team members, especially on the safety front.
Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, the role is based in the Mine Operations department. This is a site-based position with a 14 days in / 14 days out rotation and is a permanent position.
