  • About the BCLDB :

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to government's goals of making life better for people in B.C., improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming. Learn more on the LDB careers page.

As part of the Chief Administrative Office (CAO), the Corporate Services (CS) team plays a critical role in supporting the entire organization. Comprised of Policy, Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations, Corporate Privacy and Information, Sourcing and Vendor Performance, Strategy & Business Transformation, Social Impact & Environmental Sustainability and the Enterprise Project Management Office, CS is driven by customer-service and taking action to advise, consult and support each business area throughout the LDB.

The CS team is comprised of approximately 70 staff. What brings CS together as a team is the ability to work together to support both the operational areas of the business and other corporate service areas (e.g., Corporate Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology). The group has a strategic lens with a focus on ensuring the organization aligns and complies with corporate priorities, policies, legislation, best practices, and government mandate.

    About this role :

As one of the largest retailers and wholesalers of liquor and cannabis in Canada, the LDB is committed to going above and beyond our meaningful contributions to the Province of British Columbia through its social impact strategy. Each year, the LDB contributes over $1 billion to support critical public services such as healthcare and education. Beyond these financial contributions, the LDB's commitment runs deeper. Through our social impact initiatives and the generous support of our customers and partners, we have raised over $10 million to benefit communities across British Columbia.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Services, the Director of Social Impact and Environmental Sustainability, is responsible for implementing an enterprise-wide social impact strategy and roadmap for the LDB. The LDB's social impact strategy sets the long-term vision and goals for how the LDB aligns profit with purpose and drives positive contributions to the environment and the communities that it serves.

The LDB's social impact roadmap will outline the specific initiatives and programs that will help advance the organization's social impact strategy. These may include community engagement programs, environmental sustainability initiatives, charity fundraising activities, and external diversity and inclusion initiatives. These initiatives and programs will involve collaboration and partnerships with stakeholders including employees, industry partners, customers, non-profit organizations, and other government entities. These partnerships are key in amplifying the impact of LDB's initiatives and ensuring they are both relevant and effective.

A significant focus of the LDB's social impact strategy will be on environmental sustainability. This will entail executing LDB's environmental sustainability initiatives that align with the broader social impact strategy, reporting on our government environmental commitments, and executing government-mandated projects.

Key responsibilities include continuous strategy development and implementation, governance oversight, risk and financial oversight, and third-party management, including relationships with various stakeholders and partners. The Director will also manage marketing and advertising campaigns related to the social impact strategy.

This role ensures the integration of the social impact strategy across LDB's corporate strategy and aligns with the Province's broader Reconciliation, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy.

Special requirements and working conditions include the ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia, and the ability to work flexible hours such as evenings and weekends to attend events. A successful completion of a criminal record check is required.

For complete details about this opportunity, including accountabilities, please refer to the attached job description, also located in the Additional Information section at the bottom of the posting.

An eligibility list for permanent or temporary future opportunities may be established.
