Job description

Lake Country Co-op invites applications for the position of onsite Store Manager at our Food Store in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. This position provides strategic direction, drives growth opportunities and community engagement, and provides leadership to the Grocery, Bakery, Deli, Meat, Produce, and Hardware operations encompassing sales of approximately $35 million.

What You Will Do :

  • Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, and safety principles to make a difference in members lives, with a strong customer focused approach
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience at all touch points through various communication channels
  • Build and lead a high-performance team that delivers on budgeted targets by maximizing operational efficiency
  • Lead the Food Store teams in providing quality and fresh products; coordinate remote camp orders
  • Ensure inventories are managed and protected in compliance with management standards and practices to maintain high levels of accuracy and minimal loss
  • Provide superior leadership to team members through coaching, mentoring, performance management and feedback
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Lake Country Co-op policies such as selling of age restricted items and all government regulations relating to tobacco, ammunition, and lottery
  • Oversee the completion of daily reports, reconciliations, and purchases
  • Champion the Asset Protection and Safety Management systems, policies, procedures
  • Ensure the departments are upholding image and brand standards
  • Assist with managing development projects and upcoming renovations outlined within the Business Unit Strategy
  • Administer invoicing for bulk propane tank rentals and process propane prepayments to account
  • Perform minor repairs to assets as required

Who You Will Work With : Reporting to the Director of Food, you will be a key participant in initiating, developing, and executing plans and policies to ensure continued growth in sales, service, employee satisfaction, and customer experience. Who you are :

You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and Customer Service and :

  • You have 5-7 years of progressive management experience in a retail environment, including experience leading other leaders and large teams
  • Co-operative Retailing Experience, project management experience, and post-secondary education in a business-related field are assets
  • You are creative, self-reliant, goal oriented, and can set and adjust priorities in an ever-changing retail environment
  • You possess retail food industry experience in the areas of member relations, selling, health and safety, ordering, receiving, merchandising, and asset maintenance and management
  • You have a strong understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures in a unionized setting
  • You have a high level of integrity and accountability
  • You have sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills
  • You must be able to plan and organize your own work and that of others, supervise others, and delegate to others
  • You have a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
  • You are tech savvy with a good understanding of retail technology
  • You are customer focused and have the ability to work in a fast paced, guest facing environment
  • You are available for day travel and some overnight travel within the Lake Country Co-op trading area to attend seminars, meetings, training programs and other events; you must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • You can fulfill the physical job requirements and can lift up to 50 lbs; some manual labour is required
  • You have a flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
