Eligibility to participate in pension plan after 2 years of continuous service with generous matching contribution from employer Manager, Student Supports & Programming  (Permanent Full Time, 35 hours / week) Non-Bargaining Unit Position The Pathways Manager, Student Supports & Programming assists the Senior Manager to develop, implement and administer all aspects of the Pathways to Education program. The Manager is responsible for the successful planning, implementation, evaluation and continual improvement of student advocacy and engagement programming and services alignment with funder accountabilities and agency standards. These responsibilities include contributing to the hiring and evaluating of staff as well as the ongoing coordination and supervision of staff and activities as they relate to student engagement and advocacy, the implementation of programming events, workshops, and opportunities for community engagement and development. This position also leads the development and implementation of employment and post-secondary learning opportunities for students. The Manager, Student Supports and Programming contributes to strategic planning and service planning for the Pathways program and YouthLink. Highlights of Your Role Models and Builds a Strong Workplace Culture Staff Supervision and Administration Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the Student Development Workers’ (SDW) and relief SDWs professional practice including case management and documentation, youth / family engagement and support, and adhere to agency and program – specific policies and procedures. Review student progress and critical cases on an ongoing and regular basis, providing coaching and supervision to the Student Development Workers and relief SDWs. Organize Student Development Workers workflow and scheduling, attendance, performance reviews and professional development as well as caseload distribution, programming events schedule, school visits, etc. Recruit and supervise student placements (e.g. Child and Youth Worker, Bachelor of Social Work) during their placement. Provide supervision, training and professional development opportunities and evaluation of placement students. In collaboration with other Pathways managers, ensure the Pathways to Education staff, volunteers and students are knowledgeable about the Pathways program and YouthLink’s programs, policies and procedures including health and safety. Analyze the student database to record and track students progress and their participation in the program. Ensure that appropriate record-keeping processes are established and maintained for students’ records, in keeping with organizational policies. Leads the planning of the annual registration process. As a member of the YouthLink management team, attends all meetings Take all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect his or her own health and safety, and that of coworkers by complying and demonstrating knowledge of the policies, procedures, and safe practices established by YouthLink. Anticipates emerging issues and de-escalates or addresses them before they escalate to complaints. Operational Planning Collaboration and Partnership Development                                                                      Develop and maintain relationship with students, parents, schools, school boards, and community to build program engagement, collaborative partnerships and program participation. Plays a key role in building relationships with community partners such as recreation, social service, post-secondary institutions, employment and career development resources to support program delivery. Support the identification of gaps in service delivery and collaborate to the development of strategies to address the gaps. Provide resources and support to staff pertaining to specific client issues. Maintain effective communication among internal and external stakeholder including youth, parents, school administrators, post – secondary institutions, etc. Actively contribute the Agency’s Strategic Plan and Service Plan by participating in initiatives and committees to support the Agency. Attend and participate in Pathways to Education management meetings and YouthLink all manager meetings. Oversee the supervision of staff and responsibilities of senior manager and other manager in the case of their absence. Program Delivery Provide leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of after- school community based programming, including coordinating and supporting evening sessions, student / volunteer / funder events and other social / leadership activities, as well as career and post-secondary focused activities. Ensure that Pathways to Education Program activities are delivered effectively and that the activities and relationships developed are in line with the goals of the students and the Pathways to Education program.                                Engage staff to maintain motivation, support and facilitation of student engagement, volunteer retention and community building and development. Support to the engagement and retention of volunteers Collaborate with Pathways to Education Managers and program staff, to support the integration of new and experienced volunteers into tutoring and mentoring programming. Resolve program staff and volunteer concerns. Ensure the adequate levels of Pathways to Education staff to meet programming needs. Oversee staff scheduling as it relates to programming support elements of the program. Funder Applications, Monitoring and Reporting Seeks funding opportunities, and actively participates in the building of program logic models and outcome indicators. Monitors program impact progress and outcomes and completes progress reports to leadership team and funders. In conjunction with Senior Manager, builds and monitors the financial supports, outreach and programming budgets, including resources, supplies and operational expenses related to client needs and events, meets with finance team and leadership team to adjust spending priorities as needed Prepare reports, and analyze the data as per funder and agency requirements. Support research elements of the program and demonstrate continual commitment to program involvement through research and evaluation. Collaborate with other Pathways Managers and program staff to monitor internal and external trends that may impact the program. Highlights of What You Bring Education : Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Education, Community Development or related discipline required. Post- graduate degree or certificate in community development, nonprofit sector management or volunteer management is an asset. Experience : Five (5) years’ experience working in community development, youth / family engagement or youth programming in culturally and racially diverse, underserved and / or urban communities. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in staff management, including training, staff supervision, budget management, etc. Experience overseeing volunteer management, including recruitment, training coordination and coaching is an important asset Experience in a unionized environment is an asset. A strong ability to engage young people and demonstrated knowledge in community based, youth engagement programming. Experience building and maintaining partnerships with various youth-serving, community-based, education and social services organizations, supporting program development initiatives and collaborations. Experience with database management and demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including virtual tools and social media Experience with the Pathways Program and Scarborough Village is an asset An understanding of the factors affecting educational success for students facing barriers, including students with learning disabilities and special needs, students with learning gaps, and students who are English Language Learners. Knowledge of Ontario College and University application processes, OSAP, scholarships and / or employment / career development is an asset. Knowledge of current Ontario secondary school curriculum and Ministry of Education policies / guidelines is an asset. Skills : Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging and supporting others Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong facilitation and presentation skills in small and large groups, in person and virtually. Able to think creatively about the roles and structure of how to deliver supports and student engagement strategies Strong team player and comfortable working with a collaborative, community-based environment. Excellent organizational and administrative problem solving skills. A professional and personable demeanor and dedication to teamwork. Proficient in computer skills, including virtual tools such as zoom, database management and social media. Embraces reflective learning and development to enhance all traits of leader character. Significant understanding and knowledge of systemic barriers and oppression rooted in colonization, racism, transphobia, classism, misogyny, moralism, ableism, and how they impact young people. Knowledge of how to support students to cope with mental health issues and resources available. Ability to speak a second language spoken within the community (Tamil, Urdu, Farsi, Creole, French, and Spanish) is an asset. Access to a vehicle and a valid G level Driver’s license is an asset.
