Job description

TRITAN Group is proud to support one of Western Canada’s top General contractors in finding an experienced senior Estimator to join their exceptional Edmonton team. As a key estimation team member, you will be crucial in shaping future projects by providing vital estimates, from conceptual sketches to final bids. As Senior Estimator, you provide accurate and competitive estimates for commercial and industrial projects, including warehouses, distribution centers, and CRUs.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough cost analysis and prepared detailed estimates for construction projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers and design teams to review project specifications and drawings.
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare accurate and complete estimates, including quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and sub-contractor and supplier pricing.
  • Prepare and present estimates to clients, providing clear and concise explanations.
  • Maintain Sub-Contractors / Supplier relations.
  • Maintain unit price and productivity knowledge and database.
  • Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
  • Prepare risk mitigation plans and effectively manage risks that might impact estimates.
  • Keep updated on industry trends, materials, and construction techniques to provide accurate estimates.
  • Assist in project budgeting and cost tracking throughout the construction process.
  • Manage and mentor junior estimators.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience as a construction estimator, focusing on commercial and industrial projects.
  • The ability to estimate all types of projects / contracts, as well as the ability to coordinate and supervise group work efforts, is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, and methods.
  • Team management experience.
  • Ability to produce hard-bid and cost-estimate bids.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Operations experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Manager is an asset.
