Job description

Why Join Our Team?

Join an organization that prioritizes its people! At CEWE, we are dedicated to the growth and success of our teams and our business. We offer competitive union wages and benefits, an inclusive work environment, and engaging social events that foster a strong team culture.

About Us

Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) is a privately owned, locally operated general contractor specializing in road building and civil construction. With over 70 years of experience in British Columbia, we provide comprehensive road construction services, including excavation, gravel placement, base and sub-base preparation, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks, curbs, asphalt paving, and milling.

The Opportunity

CEWE is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in civil construction and road building to develop accurate estimates, secure business opportunities, and drive project success. Ideal candidates will have strong proficiency in HeavyBid and a deep understanding of industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the estimating process for civil construction and road-building projects, ensuring precision and competitiveness.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with both public and private sector clients.
  • Prepare, review, and present comprehensive cost estimates, bid proposals, and tender submissions.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maximize project value.
  • Collaborate with contract administrators, engineering firms, and project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Analyze production data and forecasts to optimize project scopes and resource allocation.
  • Review and approve subcontractor billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior estimators and project team members.
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies, industry regulations, and company standards.
  • Address escalated customer concerns with professionalism and strategic problem-solving.

Qualifications :

  • Proven experience in estimating and project management within the civil construction sector.
  • Strong understanding of civil infrastructure projects, including design-build, joint ventures, and capital projects.
  • Market knowledge of Greater Vancouver and surrounding areas is a strong asset.
  • Leadership and negotiation skills with the ability to foster strong client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Proficiency in HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and industry-specific software (MS Office, MMCD, MOTI).
  • Technical expertise in project sequencing, critical path analysis, and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills —both written and verbal—with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • P.Eng or AScT designation preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in civil construction.
  • Apply Today!

If you’re a results-driven professional looking to contribute to a company with a legacy of excellence in civil construction, we want to hear from you. Join CEWE and be part of a team that builds the roads and infrastructure that connect our communities.
