Position : Director of Construction - Commercial Properties - Edmonton

What you will be doing :

As the Director of Construction, you will be responsible for managing all construction and renovation projects within our diverse portfolio of commercial properties in Eastern and Western Canada. Reporting to the Vice- President of Operations, you will ensure that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

Main Responsibilities :

Develop and implement a construction strategy aligned with Leyad's vision and objectives.

Oversee the planning, design, and execution of commercial construction projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

Act as the main point of contact with tenants, contractors, and internal teams for all matters related to construction and renovation projects.

Prepare budget forecasts for projects and provide cost estimates.

Supervise renovation projects for leased spaces, ensuring compliance with lease terms, building standards, and regulatory requirements.

Review and approve construction plans, working closely with tenants, designers, and project teams to ensure alignment with property guidelines.

Coordinate inspections and project approvals to facilitate tenant improvements and ensure timely availability of rental spaces.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and industry standards.

Implement best industry practices.

What You Bring :

A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields.

10+ years of experience in leadership roles focused on managing construction and renovation projects for commercial spaces.

Excellent skills in financial management, contract negotiation, and problem-solving.

Proven experience with sustainability initiatives.

Strong organizational and execution skills.

Bilingual (English and French).

PMP certification (a plus).

This position requires a proactive leader who is passionate about building excellence while ensuring safety and quality at every stage of the construction process.
