Job description

The Role : (Residential Position - Ontario) Join an ambitious Canadian based gold-focused exploration and development company, where you will lead the Environmental department on site. Play a key role in advancing consultations, permitting requirements and Feasibility Study to ensure the company's flagship asset is fully prepared to enter the construction and production stages of its development.

Title : Environment & Regulatory Affairs Manager

Location : Western Ontario (Will require relocation - No FIFO)

Salary : $140,000-$163,000 + Bonus + Equity Program + Benefits + Relocation Assistance

Roster : Mon-Fri

Company : Canadian Based Mining Development Company

Reports to : Director of Environment and Regulatory Affairs

Team size : 2 Full Time Direct Reports + Co-Op Students Each Term

Culture : Small but close knit team on site with positive and ethical culture

Core responsibilities :

  • Lead all Environmental functions for the project site, providing technical support to corporate and site based teams
  • Oversee environmental data management and monitoring systems, compliance with regulatory, permits, monitoring, and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with corporate team in the development of Environment and Regulatory Affairs policies and programs and align with various other company projects across Canada / USA
  • Develop short, mid, and long-term environmental plans
  • Contribute to the environmental approvals and permitting programs for the project site
  • Support risk assessments for site critical infrastructure (waste storage facilities & water management)
  • Manage site environmental compliance, reporting and statutory investigations
  • Contribute to the company's ESG reporting program
  • Technical support to Community Relations & Projects teams
  • Environmental committee meetings

Must haves :

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in related discipline
  • 8+ Years Environmental management in mining operations / regulatory affairs
  • Knowledgeable in environmental regulations, monitoring, sampling, and related documentation
  • Wide breadth of experience in environment management in the mining industry, such as environmental management systems, regulatory approvals, water quality management, air quality management, mine waste management, biodiversity, ecological or human health risk assessments, noise, and closure / reclamation.
  • Knowledgeable in Ontario and federal legislations and regulations
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
