IndemniProMarine Surveyor, Full-Time (Toronto, ON, Canada)

We are looking for a skilled Marine Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections and surveys of marine vessels, related equipment and cargo to assess damage under marine insurance policies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, with a strong knowledge of maritime practices.

Their primary duties of the role include :

  • Conducting inspections and surveys of pleasure craft, ships and marine structures to assess damage, process claims, and provide recommendations for repairs and maintenance.
  • Inspection of cargo to verify damage, spoilage or shortage

Preferred experience includes :

  • A bachelor's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, or related field.
  • Certification from a recognized maritime organization, such as the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) or the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS).
  • Extensive knowledge of maritime laws, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Experience in the maritime industry, preferably in a hands-on role such as engineering or navigation, and prior experience with an insurer or Marine Surveying firm.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and make decisions often under challenging conditions.
  • Successful Marine Surveyors are also committed to continuous education to keep abreast of the latest technological and regulatory developments in the maritime industry.
