Research Topic and Significance

The main research focus is Metal Additive Manufacturing, specifically Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) applied to strategic alloys. Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D and 4D printing, is transforming how complex metal parts are designed and fabricated, offering design flexibility, material efficiency, and rapid prototyping—critical for aerospace, automotive, marine, and biomedical industries.

Project Details

Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team at MAMCE, engaging in activities such as :

  • Advanced materials characterization and alloy design
  • Post-processing of printed materials
  • Assessment of material performance under extreme conditions
  • Design, optimization, and innovation in LPBF processes
  • Research involves collaboration with industrial and scientific partners. Positions are fully funded and start in January and / or May 2026.

    Candidate Profile

    The ideal applicants will have :

  • A strong background in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering or related fields
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in additive manufacturing is an asset
  • Research excellence demonstrated through publications, awards, or relevant experience
  • Selection criteria include GPA, publications, skills, research alignment, language scores (if applicable), awards, and experience. Shortlisted candidates will have a virtual interview.

    We encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply. Priority is given to those residing in Canada; international candidates must have a valid Canadian visa by the start date.
