Job description

Westshore Marine and Leisure is a leading powersports dealership , specializing in boats, ATVs, and outdoor recreational vehicles . We are looking for an experienced Marine Technician to join our service team and work on boat engines and marine systems.

Job Responsibilities :

Marine Engine Maintenance & Repair :

  • Review work orders and discuss work to be performed with the supervisor.
  • Diagnose, repair, and service outboard and inboard marine engines (e.g., Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Evinrude, Suzuki, Volvo Penta, etc.).
  • Perform routine maintenance , including oil changes, water pump replacements, and fuel system cleaning.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems on boats.

Boat Systems & Rigging :

  • Install, repair, and maintain steering systems, propellers, and trim systems .
  • Conduct rigging and pre-delivery inspections on new boats.
  • Install and troubleshoot marine electronics (GPS, depth finders, sonar, VHF radios).
  • Customer Service & Documentation :

  • Communicate with customers to explain repairs and provide cost estimates.
  • Document all work performed in service reports.
  • Assist with warranty claims and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Shop Maintenance & Safety :

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Follow all safety procedures when working with tools and marine fuels.
  • Stay up-to-date with marine technology advancements through training.
  • Qualifications & Skills :

  • Experience : Minimum 3+ years working as a Marine Technician or Marine Mechanic.
  • Technical Knowledge : Familiarity with outboard and inboard engines, EFI and carbureted systems , and marine electrical systems .
  • Certifications (Preferred) : Marine industry certifications (e.g., Suzuki , Mercury Marine, Yamaha, Lund, Bennington, Honda ).
  • Diagnostic Skills : Ability to use diagnostic tools like ECU scanners and compression testers .
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to lift heavy parts, bend, kneel, and work in outdoor conditions.
  • Driver’s License : Valid driver's license (boating license is a plus).
