Job description

Responsibilities

:
  • Develop PLC, HMI, and control system applications from requirements through final release
  • Participate in technical design, requirements gathering, and system architecture decisions
  • Work closely with end users to understand operational needs and future enhancements
  • Implement efficient, well-structured software aligned with Trican coding standards
  • Select and specify PLC I/O hardware appropriate to project requirements
  • Commission, maintain, and troubleshoot control systems, VFDs, and motors
  • Perform ongoing system maintenance, updates, and issue resolution
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Research and evaluate new PLC, HMI, and control technologies to drive innovation
  • Participate in on-call support rotation as required

Experience & TECHNICAL Skills:

  • Related industry experience (mandatory)
  • Strong experience with Siemens PLCs and HMIs (Classic and Unified)
  • Working knowledge of TIA Portal (V14–V20), including commissioning and maintenance
  • Experience with VFDs, motors, and control loops, including PID tuning
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, CAN, and J1939
  • Software development experience in C#, .NET, C++, or Java considered an asset
  • Exposure to data analytics, data mining, or cloud-based systems considered beneficial
  • Familiarity with DAS and industrial control systems
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

Certifications (Required or Asset)

  • WHMIS
  • TDG, H2S, First Aid/CPR
  • High-voltage electrical experience considered an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional off-hours travel required)
  • Pre-employment medical testing required
  • Work performed in varying weather and field conditions
