Job description

Apply for the Production Labourer role at K+S Group .

Reporting to the Supervisor in the Dry Processing Division, the Production Labourer will perform a range of duties to support safe and efficient operations including truck operation, daily housekeeping, equipment inspection, and loading / unloading tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate wheel loaders, tandem truck, rock truck, skid steer, forklift and fleet vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties in the loadout and compaction area during down times (e.g., cleaning product spills, snow removal).
  • Make judgments on the working condition of all equipment and recommend required repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure product stock piles are safe and maintained.
  • Manually open and close loading hatches on railcars and keep railcars ready for loading.
  • Unload off‑spec rail cars as required.
  • Take responsibility for the safety of operations involving heavy equipment and for the safety of personnel in or near the work zone; shut down the job if a safety concern exists.
  • Participate in pre‑job planning and conduct pre‑operational checks (visual walk‑about) for operational safety of equipment.
  • Determine appropriate equipment, load capacity and conditions for specific applications.
  • Determine appropriate methods to be used for conditions / type of work.
  • Use company resources efficiently and with care.
  • At times perform process field operator duties (collecting samples, clearing process equipment, etc.).
  • Demonstrate clear, concise oral and written communication and listening skills.
  • Commit to continuous improvements in a changing work environment.
  • Perform rounds and routine checks for fines storage loading equipment.
  • Operate and troubleshoot fines storage panel loading sequencing, including IVL and SAP integration.
  • Interact with customers for overall processing of offsite fines sale.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent education.
  • Experience operating a tandem truck, rock truck, wheel loader, skid steer, or equivalent equipment.
  • Knowledge of normal operating parameters (engine temperature, fluid levels, etc.) and required mechanical condition of equipment.
  • Knowledge of departmental procedures and practices.
  • Ability to communicate using cell phone, two‑way radio, telephone, and log sheet.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 kg (fork extensions, chains, pads, etc.).
  • Able to sit for long periods while operating equipment.
  • Able to climb into and out of equipment.
  • Able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures.
  • Able to work from heights.
  • Willing to accept responsibility for the safety of passengers and the safe condition of vehicles.
  • Able to recognize mechanical troubles and vehicle failure.
  • Must be mentally alert, neat, and able to communicate effectively with all personnel.
  • Operates all site mobile equipment, rental equipment, and fleet vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Shift & Work Conditions

    Rotating 12‑hour shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires manual effort such as lifting up to 35 kg, climbing, working at heights, and operating in hot humid or cold conditions. Frequent lifting and operating machinery are required.

    Pre‑Employment Checks

    Successful completion of KSPC’s pre‑employment checks, including a criminal record check, education verification, functional fitness evaluation, and drug and alcohol testing, is required.
