Keyworker / Addictions Workers will provide individual support to clients struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues through direct supervision and treatment. Keyworker / Addictions Workers will report to and work closely with the Program Director.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIRES
The individual will be responsible for assigned client care and maintaining the files of clients as well as the supervision of persons in residential substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders treatment services.
The incumbent will provide individual and group counseling, make referrals to the clinical therapist, and educate residents with regards to addiction using a therapeutic community model.
Coordinate and facilitate educational holistic workshops on mental health and substance use related topics.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crisis management and the impact of trauma on mental health and substance use issues.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings and case discussions.
QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Grade 12, diploma / degree in community support worker, addictions and community service, or relevant post-secondary education such as counselling, social work etc. Other related programs will also be considered.
Experience working in a residential treatment setting is an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs.
Excellent and proven interpersonal and supportive counselling skills.
Experience working with at risk and / or vulnerable population.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Organizational and planning skills with related decision-making abilities
Able to treat each participant with dignity and respect.
