We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Helper to join our team at our vibrant Indian restaurant in Cambridge Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working in Indian kitchens and a thorough understanding of the unique ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques that define Indian cuisine. We are seeking someone who can hit the ground running and support the kitchen staff with efficiency and attention to detail.Key Responsibilities : - Assist in the preparation and cooking of ingredients for traditional Indian dishes.- Ensure that all kitchen tools and equipment are kept clean, sanitized, and in good working order.- Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.- Support chefs and cooks in food preparation, from chopping vegetables to mixing spices.- Maintain proper food safety standards and handle food items safely.- Help manage food storage, ensuring proper labeling, organization, and rotation of ingredients, especially spices and perishable items.- Be ready to step in to help with other kitchen tasks as needed during busy periods.Required Skills and Experience : - Minimum 2 years of experience working in an Indian restaurant or with Indian cuisine.- Solid understanding of Indian cooking methods, spices, and ingredients (e.G., use of tandoor, curries, masalas, etc.).- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety.- Experience handling kitchen equipment, from knives to commercial dishwashers.- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.- A positive attitude, reliability, and flexibility during peak hours.Preferred Qualifications : - Experience working with traditional Indian cooking equipment such as tandoor ovens and clay pots.- Basic knowledge of regional Indian dishes and their specific preparation requirements.- Prior experience in a busy Indian restaurant setting.- Must be able to reliably commute to our restaurant in CambridgeIf you have experience working in Indian kitchens and are passionate about food, we would love to hear from you.
