What you'll do
Responsibilities
What you will be doing…
Reporting to the Research Scientist, you will :
Provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientists.
Assist with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies.
You may be involved in one or more research projects.
The primary focus of the position will be developing tissue culture methods to propagate Balsam Fir with superior genetics.
You will also contribute to the development of protocols for operating analytical equipment.
This role may involve fieldwork to support data collection efforts, which could include both indoor and outdoor working environments. Innovative and committed to life-long learning, the Research Associate is a creative self-starter with a commitment to research excellence.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience :
The minimum educational qualification for this position is an advanced diploma and / or a degree in the related field or discipline specific to the nature of the research project natural resources, environmental science, biology, horticulture, and agriculture.
Previous experience conducting tissue culture techniques would be considered an asset.
Occupational experience that includes crop management, crop sampling, soil sampling, and nutrient analysis, as well as running pot to plot level field experiments would be considered an asset.
You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail,
You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
Experience supporting / providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset
You meet CICAN Internship eligibility : Eligible interns : Between the ages of 15-30 (inclusive) at the start of the internship, Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada; Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations; Available to work for up to 4 months. Cannot be : Previous participants of a Science and Technology Internship Program; Employees of the hiring employer prior to the start of their internship (does not apply to previous coop students or student interns, although this must be clearly indicated by the employer)
