Job Summary


A Brief Overview

The Communications and Digital Assistant is a member of the Vice Principal Research (VPR) portfolio's strategic communications team, working closely with colleagues across VPR and in University Relations to advance the research mission of the university. The incumbent will support VPR's internal and external communications and events initiatives and provide support for the cross-portfolio Research Communications team.

This position coordinates the mass email communications process and ensures that the content meets applicable style guide and accessibility standards. This position provides administrative support, including maintaining the website and mailing lists, in addition to providing support to produce print and electronic communication materials.

Job Description

What you will do

  • Coordinates all mass email communications and ensures that the content meets applicable style guide and accessibility standards.

  • Provides user support and training for mass email communication system and seeks support when necessary.

  • Monitors website pages, updates contacts, and prepares reports.

  • Assists with preparing the annual budget by tracking and reconciling expenses.

  • Provides support producing print and electronic communication materials.

  • Provides administrative support, including maintaining the website and mailing lists.

  • Runs reports and collects data on performance of the newsletter.

  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
  • Two-Year Community College Diploma.
  • in communications preferred.

  • in marketing preferred.
Required Experience
  • More than 1 year and up to and including 2 years of experience.
    Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Break down concrete issues into parts and selects best solution from clear alternatives and past practices.
    Acknowledge and respect diverse cultural traditions and beliefs.
    Question attitudes, comments and behaviours which are discriminatory and seeks out appropriate resources to remove these from the workplace.
