Overall Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Research and lnnovation the Researcher's primary function will be

supporting the research driven corporate goals and objectives of the company, and conducting in-depth reviews on ingredients, products and manufacturers to support new product innovation. The Researcher will support the process to conceptualize and propose new, innovative products (based on research) for the company to develop. They will follow potential products through the development phases, including idea identification, scoping, and development. Strong communication skills will be employed through liaising with marketing, regulatory, R&D, and finance personnel to identify optimal product development pathways and feasibility.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct extensive literature and market competitor reviews on current and new
  • ingredients / products
  • Review scientific technical material from raw ingredient and finished product suppliers
  • Prepare research based safety and efficacy documents for regulatory submissions and provide
  • research support in product amendment process
  • Provide scientific and technical support to marketing for claim development and substantiation
  • Monitor and prepare monthly reports of selected journals, industry reports and other databases
  • lnitiate internal sampling programs and liaise with external contract research organizations to
  • further Jamieson's research programs
  • Work with buyers to source desired new raw materials
  • Liaise with third party manufacturers as needed for all steps of the raw product launch process
  • Plan and execute internal studies to assess potential products and ingredients
  • Propose new formulas for products based on research and marketing objectives; optimize
  • formulation with R&D
  • Survey marketplace to purchase competitor products for competitor review purposes
  • Health & Safety Policies / SOPs including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure
  • Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences or related
  • Research minded with critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, significant experience with literature search engines
  • Excellent technical writing skills and good grammar and punctuation
  • Exemplary communication, bilingual (English / French) desirable
  • Able to work, learn and think accurately in a fast paced, dynamic, multitasking environment and
