Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada (CAFC) is the country’s leading charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth involved in the child welfare system. Partnering with 114 child- and youth-serving agencies nationwide, CAFC raises and grants funds to deliver high-impact programs and services, helping vulnerable children and families thrive. In the past year alone, CAFC raised over $18.4 million, providing essential support to more than 16,000 children, youth, and families. With a bold new five-year strategic plan, CAFC is strengthening its culture of philanthropy to drive lasting, transformative change in child welfare systems across Canada.
Building on the momentum of CAFC’s recent success—raising $100 million through back-to-back campaigns led by an inspired Board and Campaign Cabinet—CAFC seeks a dynamic, results-driven leader to elevate its major giving efforts as Director, Campaigns and Major Gifts . Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director will lead fundraising and campaign strategy, oversee major gift initiatives, and serve as the staff lead for the Campaign Cabinet. They will drive donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation to ensure long-term fundraising sustainability while advancing major and principal giving from individuals and private foundations, bringing a creative and solutions-focused approach to donor engagement.
As a key member of the Development team, the Director will oversee a portfolio of major donors and prospects at the five- to seven-figure level, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, an engaged Board of Directors, and senior volunteers. They will lead solicitation efforts, develop compelling donor proposals, and work collaboratively to elevate CAFC’s fundraising visibility. Additionally, the Director will mentor and lead a team of up to four professionals, fostering a high-performance, donor-focused culture.
The ideal candidate is a resourceful and forward-thinking fundraiser with extensive experience in major gifts and campaign leadership. They bring ingenuity, fresh ideas, and a proven ability to apply creative problem-solving to secure transformational gifts. Proactively identifying new approaches and ways to connect with donors, they tailor innovative solutions to cultivate meaningful relationships. A skilled communicator and collaborator, they thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and take a strategic, data-driven approach to fundraising. Passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of children and youth, the Director will be a key contributor to CAFC’s ambitious vision for the future.
