We are seeking Canadian French speakers to participate in a wake word recording project. Wake words are short phrases used to activate Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems, commonly used in smart speakers, smartphones, automotive voice assistants, and other AI-powered devices. The collected data will help train ASR systems to recognize wake words spoken by a variety of voices in different environments.
Task Details :
Participants will record a script of 101 short phrases twice :
Near-field condition : Speaking close to the microphone.
Far-field condition : Speaking from a distance.
Each phrase takes approximately 1.2 seconds to record.
The total task includes 202 phrases per participant (101 phrases x 2 sessions).
The entire task should take less than one hour to complete.
The recordings will be completed using a mobile device following provided instructions.
Requirements :
Canadian French speaker with a natural accent.
Clear speech with no strong regional dialects that may interfere with recognition.
Access to a quiet environment for high-quality recordings.
A smartphone or tablet capable of recording audio.
Ability to follow instructions carefully and complete the task independently.
